The Western New York local section represents Niagara Falls and Buffalo, along with surrounding areas. Membership in the local section is open to all members of the American Chemical Society. More information on ACS membership may be found at the National ACS Website.
Jacob F. Schoellkopf Medal
The Jacob F. Schoellkopf Medal is the oldest ACS local section award. It recognizes outstanding industrial or academic research and service in the Western New York area.
The 2025 medalist is Professor Haiqing Lin of the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering in the UB School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. The 2025 Schoellkopf Medal was presented to Prof. Lin on October 28, 2025 at the Hotel Lafayette.
